Public relations writing and reporting is an introductory course explaining the roles, functions, purposes, responsibilities, and methods of the public relations profession. It studies the history of public relations and its growth as a component of the executive arm of the corporation. The course also covers the planning and development of public relations campaigns, surveying public opinion, distribution of media releases, defining targets and audiences to achieve strategic results and objectives, as well as the preparation for internal public relations and in-house communications and publications. Students are expected to acquire the skills to make public relations presentations, prepare publications for organizations, and write media releases, letters, newsletters and speeches.
